Mayor Thomas J Dougherty

As you may know, Cazenovia is located in Madison County, but we are proud to be a member of the Onondaga County Mayors' Association. The founding date of our picturesque village was 1793. Mayor's Notebook
Mayor Thomas Dougherty grew up in Cazenovia and graduated from Cazenovia Central School. After graduation from college he left Cazenovia to work on various nuclear power plant projects throughout the northeast. Currently, he works as a quality assurance analyst at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station.

Tom and his wife Deborah returned to Cazenovia in 1978 to raise their family, of three children: Jennifer, Thomas B, and John. Upon returning to Cazenovia, Mayor Dougherty became involved in youth sports where he was actively involved in the initiation of the Youth Basketball Program and the revitalization of Little League Baseball in Cazenovia. He is a former coach of youth basketball and baseball and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Pop Warner Football.

As Trustee from 1994 to 2004, Mayor Dougherty was chairman of the Village Code Committee that revised and updated the current Village Code. He was instrumental in the installation of the fountain and the removal of the old pump house at Lakeland Park as well as the construction of the Village Basketball Court at Burton Street Park.

Tom's wife Deborah is a former member of the Cazenovia Village Board of Trustees. Mayor Dougherty is very proud of the Village of Cazenovia and truly enjoys serving the community, which he has done as mayor since June of 2004. His interests include family, village government, and youth sports.
