I would like to extend to you a personal welcome to the Village of Fayetteville. As a new resident to our village, you have joined a varied and active community providing many services and conveniences.

The Village of Fayetteville government is a five person Board, comprised of four trustees and led by the Mayor. Our meetings are the second and fourth Monday of each month (changes are made when a holiday shares that time) in the Village Hall at 7:30 p.m.  I urge you to attend and be a part of the decisions made in your new community.

The village operates its own Department of Public Works providing local street maintenance and municipal garbage collection for residents of the village. You can find information on our web page, fayettevilleny.gov, or you may stop by the village office to pick up a schedule explaining the rules and regulations for garbage, trash, yard waste and recycling pick-ups. I'm sure you'll agree that it is a very fair, equitable, affordable and efficient system. Should you ever have need for assistance with the sewer system, please contact our Public Works Department first, 637-6065. They might be able to resolve the situation, or at least identify what the problem is for your plumber.

The Town of Manlius Police Department is headquartered in the Village of Manlius and consists of approximately 40 sworn officers with additional civilian support personnel. The department is led by Police Chief Francis R. Marlowe and is divided into two primary divisions:  Operations, commanded by Captain Jason Cassalia, and Administrative, commanded by Captain William R. Bleyle.

The department was formed in 1985 under a Joint Municipal Agreement between the three villages of Minoa, Fayetteville, and Manlius and the Town of Manlius . The Agreement resulted in one Town agency comprised of all the personnel from the village agencies, fully funded by the Town.  The new department is guided for policy matters by a Police Committee comprised of representatives from each village and the Town.

Services offered include: cruiser and bike patrols, Emergency Services Team, special investigation section, DARE and community relations, Family Services, and forensics. The department is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).  If you need to contact the Town of Manlius Police Department, the non-emergency number is 682-2212.  The administrative office is opened from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday – Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The Fayetteville Senior Center, Inc. officially opened on June 1, 1980 at the eastern edge of the village, in a lovely 150 year old Federal style house.

The Center provides a wonderful array of social activities, educational and exercise programs and health screening, as well as community orientated fund raising activities. Our membership includes "seniors" of 55 to well over 90! There is something to include every personality and ample opportunities for all to share their expertise and special interests with not only the membership of the Center, but with the entire community.

We have been very fortunate to have what we believe is the MOST charming senior center in the county. The warm ambience of our beautiful old ‘home’ makes everyone feel welcome as soon as they enter the door. Stop by, we'd love to show you around!!

The village remains committed to offering quality recreational activities for both our youth and adults.  To achieve this, a full slate of recreation programming is offered by the Fayetteville Recreation Committee.  This committee consists of 12 volunteer Board Members, a part-time Recreation Coordinator, and the liaison from the Fayetteville Board of Trustees.   Together they plan and implement year-round programming, including such favorites as Summer Playground at Fayetteville Elementary School , Drama Programs, Women’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey Camps, the Annual Ski and Skate Sale, Annual Bike and Blade Sale, Extended Day Music Programs, and Bumper Bowling Tournaments.  The Fayetteville Recreation Committee is also very actively involved in Village events such as the Memorial Day Parade, Fayetteville First, and the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The Village Justice Court is in session the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the court room on the second floor of Village Hall and is open to the public.

The Village Justice is Thomas J. Miller.  The court has jurisdiction over traffic, criminal and civil matters (up to $3,000.00) as well as evictions and small claims arising in the village.

The court clerk can be reached at 637-8070 and is available Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

The Fayetteville Fire Department was established in 1845 and began providing EMS transport in 1942.  The Department is led by Chief Lawrence Byrnes, and there are 48 volunteer members who perform fire, EMS and administrative duties.  In 1985 the department became combination when it hired its first employee.  Since then the staffing level has increased to include 11 full-time employees and 6 part-time employees. 

he Fayetteville Fire Department provides fire protection (structural/wildland), rescue (auto extrication/technical) and ALS ambulance services.  Training is provided by the Municipal Training Officer and training staff for all members.  Fire and life safety inspections are conducted on all commercial and multi-residential properties in the village.  The department provides training in fire prevention and CPR to community groups on a continual basis.  In 2004, the department established a Public Access Defibrillation program for all village owned buildings which it administers and maintains.  In 2005, the department began a child safety seat inspection program through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

The Fayetteville Free Library is located in the historic Stickley Furniture factory at 300 Orchard Street in the village of Fayetteville. In 2003, the building was purchased and renovated in the first of a multi-phased plan designed to accommodate patrons of all ages with state-of-the-art technology, media collections, and program opportunities as well as ample community meeting room spaces.

The Library remains true to its mission of providing free and open access and information in a lifelong learning center. We can be reached at 637-6374 or online at www.fayettevillefreelibrary.org. The library is open Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm. Summer weekend hours (July & August) are Saturday 10am-2pm and closed Sunday.
